Art of Life

This will be a sympathy card but the sentiment is inside the card instead of on the front. The colors are from this week's SCS color combo CC311 of Always Artichoke, Rose Red and Perfect Plum.  The flower on the right is actually plum although it pretty much looks gray in the photo. The flower on the left was stamped off once to get a softer look.  After stamping the flowers I used the color spritzer to spritz on a little Always Artichoke. It softens up the flowers a bit. The flower panel is up on dimensionals over the Vintage Wallpaper embossed layer. A few brads and seam binding finish it off the card.

Stamps: Art of Life (ret)
Paper: Always Artichoke, Very Vanilla
Ink: Always Artichoke, Rose Red, Perfect Plum (markers)
Accessories: Always Artichoke seam binding, Always Artichoke brads, Vintage Wallpaper EF, dimensionals, color spritzer

Birthday Bakery

It's another snowy day here in Brier and therefore a good day to stamp.  I decided to try a sketch challenge and also a color challenge.

The sketch is the Saturday Sketch Challenge on Stamping 411.  The color challenge is the Curtain Call Color Change ACT70.  Here's my card:

Stamps: Birthday Bakery, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: White, Tempting Turquoise, Tangerine Tango, Certainly Celery
Ink: Black, Markers - Tempting Turquoise, Tangerine Tango, Pear Pizzaz
Accessories: Turquoise grosgrain ribbon, celery button, embroidery floss, embossing folder, mat pack and paper piercer, Word Window punch, Modern Label punch

Get Well

This card is for a friend who just had heart surgery.  I CASE'd it from a card by mamamostamps.

I used Crumb Cake and Real Red markers on the flowers.  The doily border is a Martha Stewart punch but the SU Eyelet border punch would be a good substitute as well. I sponged the doily edge with Crumb Cake and also sponged all around the outside edge of the card. The doily border is a separate little piece attached to the card with the top edge hidden by the ribbon which is Chocolate Chip 5/8" taffeta.  The little tags are punched out using the Jewelry Tag punch and attached with a pin from Vintage Trinkets.  Hope my friend likes this card :-)

All supplies are Stampin'Up unless otherwise noted:

Stamps: Nature Walk, Teeny Tiny Wishes, Fancy Flexible Phrases
Paper: Very Vanilla
Ink: Crumb Cake, Real Red
Accessories: Chocolate Chip taffeta ribbon, Jewelry Tag punch, Vintage Trinkets, Martha Stewart border punch, sponge

Terrific Tulips

I saw this lovely wedding card by Brierrose on SCS and immediately wanted to CASE it. Also my new goal in life is to use some of my old stamps that haven't seen the light of day in a long time. I thought Terrific Tulips would be perfect for this card. For the lighter areas I stamped off once before stamping on the card. I also used strips of textured black paper in place of black ribbon since I don't have the right width of ribbon.

Stamps: Terrific Tulips
Paper: Basic Black regular and textured, Whisper White
Ink: Black
Accessories: Dotted EF, Nestabilities

Nature Walk

I just got this stamp set from Stampin'Up and love the vintage look. I'm not that great at coming up with vintage cards but I'm going to make a stab at it. This card was spurred along by a sketch challenge and a color challenge. What more help could I ask for.

I started with the birdcage stamp on white cardstock. I then inked up the bee stamp but stamped it off once before stamping next to the birdcage so it wouldn't be too bold. I did that 3 times. Then I did the same thing with the no.147 stamp.  I used the ink pad around the edges of this piece and then matted it with Pear Pizzazz and then Rich Razzleberry. I think you can tell the rest pretty easily by looking at the photo.

Stamps: Nature Walk, Fancy Flexible Phrases
Paper: Rich Razzleberry. Old Olive, Pear Pizzazz, Cottage Wall DP, White
Ink: Rich Razzleberry, Pear Pizzazz
Accessories: Scalloped border punch, white taffeta ribbon, Jewelry Tag punch, Vintage Trinkets

The sketch come from this week's Stamping 411 Saturday Sketch Challenge SSC191.
The color combo is from ColorLab's Color Challenge #29

Sweet Summer

I saw a cute card on SCS by Bar. Check it out here.  I just got the SAB set Sweet Summer and thought it would work nicely to CASE that card.  I also wanted to do this week's SCS color challenge CC310 which uses Pacific Point, So Saffron, Wild Wasabi and a neutral.

I stamped the middle flower in Pacific Point and then used the marker to fill it in. I also used a So Saffron marker to fill in the centers of the flowers.  The flower on the right was stamped in So Saffron and then filled in with the Saffron marker. It was too light and so I stamped over it with Soft Suede and think that looks much better. The leaves were stamped with Wasabi Green and then I used an aquapainter to watercolor the leaves.  I put a light wash of Saffron around the bottom of the flower stems.

Stamps: Sweet Summer, Just Believe
Paper: Kraft, Black, Confetti White (ret.)
Ink: Black, Pacific Point, So Saffron, Wasabi Green, Soft Suede
Accessories: Twine, aquapainter, Pacific Point & Saffron markers
Techniques: watercolor

2 Challenges

I have been having fun doing challenges this week. They have given my creative juices a boost. I haven't cased a card all week :-) For this card I did 2 challenges. The Clean & Simple FTL123 and Play Date Cafe PDCC66. My daughter crocheted the flower and gave me a little packet of them for Christmas. Thanks Vickie! (Check out her wonderful blog here.)  I used my black marker and the mat pack to get the dotted lines.
