Papertrey April Blog Hop Challenge

Good Morning! Today is Papertrey's monthly blog hop. Shaker cards are really big right now and when I saw the inspiration photo I thought Mother's Day and shaker.

I used my new Quickutz Nesting Squares Rounded dies to make the shaker frame. For the acetate window I used a sheet that a PTI stamp had come on. I keep all those clear sheets and figured I could finally use one. I found it to be a bit thick though. I used a metal shim and ran it through my Big Shot 3 times and it still didn't cut all the way through. I needed to use scissors to cut one side. Regular acetate sheets would be better. I stamped a few flowers in Sweet Blush on the backing piece of the shaker before assembling. The flower is stamped in  Hibiscus Burst and Ripe Avocado. (As an aside, I got the seed beads from Amazon and as far as I can tell they are exactly the same as what SSS is now selling for over twice the price.)

I used my Cover Plate: Stripes Horizontal to cut the black strips. I used the outer frame to help me position the strips. Then I stamped the sentiment and the card was done.

Here's the challenge photo:

Hope my mom likes this card!  Thanks for stopping by. Have a great Saturday!!

Sprinkled With Love

This card is for my daughter and SIL for their 6th anniversary. Happy anniversary Vickie and Brian!

I followed Betsy Veldman's video on how to make the shaker.  I die cut the "Sprinkled" twice and glued it together to give it some depth and then glued it onto the heart.

Easter Cards After the Fact

These are the Easter cards I made this year. I couldn't post them until I knew that my family had received them and I was a bit slow getting them out. Oops. Sorry family!

My first card is a CASE of this card.  First I stamped the chevrons on a 5-1/4 x 4" panel. Then I used one of the In the Meadow dies to cut the arc at the bottom. It works as a nice substitute for one of the new Sentiment Splits dies by Papertrey. I played with angling the sentiment on my acrylic block until it fit the arc. Then I trimmed some off the top because the panel was now too big to fit on the card.

The flower petals and leaves are two-step stamping with the new Brushed Blooms set. It looks like it is two colors for the petals and two colors for the leaves but overstamping like that produced a darker color for the second stamp. The Chevron panel and the flower are all popped up on Kool Tak Clear Foam Pads.

Stamps: Brushed Blooms, Wet Paint Holiday, Background Basics: Chevron Stripes (pti)
Paper: white
Ink: Hibiscus Burst, Simply Chartreuse, Lemon Tart, black
Other: Brushed Blooms die, In the Meadow die, Kool Tak Clear Foam Pads

My next card uses the PTI December 2014 freebie Pretty Petals Mini stamp set.

This card is pretty straight forward. The tag is popped up on dimensionals.

Stamps: Pretty Petals Mini (pti)
Paper: Simply Chartreuse, white, Dotted Vellum (pti)
Ink: Berry Sorbet, Simply Chartreuse, Dark Chocolate (pti)
Other: Monthly Moments Journal Card 6 die (pti), button & Bakers twine (SU), dimensionals

My last card is for my 2 year old grandson.

I stamped the bunny in Versamark and then embossed with white embossing powder. Then I watercolored over the bunny mostly in blue but with a little added pink and green around the edges. When it was dry I lightly rubbed a dry baby wipe ( I guess I don't use them fast enough) over the bunny to remove any ink on the embossed areas.  Lastly I tied some Bakers twine around the watercolored panel and added some dotted paper behind.  Done.

Stamps: Hippity Hoppity (pti)
Paper: White, Spring Rain bitty dots (pit), watercolor paper
Ink: Versamark
Other: Bakers twine (SU), watercolors, white embossing powder (Hero Arts)

Thanks for stopping by and I hope you all had a wonderful Easter!
