GO SEAHAWKS!

Well it was unintentional but my subconscious must have been thinking Seahawks when I made this card. I am from the greater Seattle area and we are so excited that they are in the Super Bowl!! Well on to the card.

I watched a video this week by Jennifer McGuire and she used verdigris embossing powder on embossing paste. It reminded me that I bought some verdigris from Stampin'Up years ago.  There is another video by Shari Carroll which I've been itching to try where she used acetate to raise words up off the card. So I thought I could combine several techniques and this week's CAS(E) This Sketch challenge for my card.  Since I just took the Stenciled Online Card Class this fits right in with that too.

I tried to get a picture of the acetate so that you could see the layers but it was hard to get it to show up. I used the 2 way glue pen to adhere the sentiment to the acetate.

Here you can see the colors of the verdigris embossing powder. I sprinkled the powder on the spackling paste while it was still wet but waited for it to dry before heating it up with my heat tool.

Thanks for stopping by today! GO SEAHAWKS!!!

p.s.  I just saw that OWH is doing a 3-day Card Bowl Challenge and today's challenge is to make a masculine card that reflects your choice of team to win. Well I think my card fits this so I'm entering it in the challenge.

Ink: none
Other: Thanks On a Line die (SSS), Tim Holtz layering stencil "Bubble", light weight spackling paste (Ace Hardware), Verdigris embossing powder (SU), acetate, foam tape, Zig 2 way glue pen

CTS #54

Hello everyone. Here's a card that I made for my Christmas stash and for this week's CAS(E) This Sketch Challenge.

I saw a video with Jennifer McGuire making some super cute cards using a Memory Box tree die.  I couldn't resist it.  My first card was just a case of her card. More on that later. For this card I die cut the trees using some red and white striped paper, pieced it all together and added the sentiment. I thought the background was too plain so I used some speckling paste with my new SSS Peppermint Stripe stencil to create a background for the trees. I kind of like how this turned out.

OK, here is the first card that I made casing Jennifer's card.  Now if you get this cute little die and decide to make Jennifer's card then here is a hint. I hadn't really used Glossy Accents before but I had fun spreading it all over my trees. I set the card aside to dry and came back a while later to check it out. Well the card was not flat and the Glossy Accents flowed down the trees and congealed into little globs. I sort of scraped off the globs and reapplied the GA and it doesn't look too bad if you don't look too closely. So after adding the Glossy Accents make sure you leave the card perfectly flat to dry. Now I know.

Thanks for stopping by and have a great Tuesday!

1 Card - Many Challenges

Hi! Happy Saturday!  Here's a card I made yesterday that fits with several challenges.

Simon Says Stamp Challenge - Flower Power, CASology: Bloom, colourQ #189 and CAS(E) this Sketch #28.   Can you believe that? 4 sketches!

I made this card because my daughter says I've doing too many geometric cards. This is for you Liz :-)

I first stamped the sentiment and then positioned it so I could see where to stamp the flowers. Then I ran the stamped flower panel through my Big Shot using the linen impression plate.  The sentiment panel is up on dimensionals.  That's about it.  This card will go into my stash for Operation Write Home.  If you haven't heard of it check it out!  Have a great weekend!

Supplies by Stampin'Up unless noted:
Stamps: Bloomin' Marvelous (SAB), Irresistibly Ikat (PTI)
Paper: Ruby Red, White
Ink: Ruby Red, Calypso Coral, Certainly Celery, Versafine Onyx Black

CTS #24 and DD#48

A CAS card today for two challenges. Dynamic Duos #48 and CAS(E) This Sketch #24.

I cut a piece of Bashful Blue prints DSP (2-3/8 x 1-7/8") and then stamped some arrows from the mamaelephant Trifecta set. The sentiment from Teeny Tiny Wishes was a bit of a cheat. I didn't think Bashful Blue ink would show well enough so it is stamped in Marina Mist.  Then a few enamel dots finished it off. Thanks for looking!

Supplies by Stampin'Up Unless Noted:
Stamps: Trifecta (mamaelephant), Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Subtles DSP Stack, Whisper White
Ink: Pumpkin Pie, Marina Mist
Accessories: Enamel dots (My Mind's Eye)

Happy Birthday to Me

My birthday was last week and I got new stampin' stuff to play with. So that's what I did this afternoon.  I used the ColourQ and CAS(E) This Sketch challenges for inspiration.

I'm loving those little triangles in the Trifecta set by mamaelephant.  I stamped them 3 times and then added the sentiment in Always Artichoke.  I really wanted to use my new enamel dots and thought it might add a bit of interest so I added those next.  They are a bit hard to see but I didn't want them to distract too much. The triangle panel is popped up on dimensionals. The white background panel is embossed with the Linen Impression Plate by PTI but you probably have to look hard to see that in the picture. Thanks for stopping by!

Supplies:
Stamps: Trifecta (mamaelephant), Mini Blooms (PTI)
Paper: Always Artichoke solid & Always Artichoke from a retired Pattern Pack, Sent With Love DSP, White (SU)
Ink: Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, Lucky Limeade & Always Artichoke (SU)
Accessories/Tools: Linen Impression Plate (PTI), Fishtail Flag Stax (MFT), Enamel dots (Teresa Collins), dimensionals

CTS#19 & Monday Mood Board 5

This card is for the CAS(E) this Sketch Challenge andWPlus9 Monday Mood Board 5.  I was also going to do the Fab Friday challenge but I forgot to add the Lucky Limeade. Oops!   I wish I'd used a different background for the picture. It looks a bit blah. I was in a hurry as it was getting late in the day and the light was going. Oh well :-)  Thanks for stopping by!

New SU Photopolymer Stamps

Stampin'Up has finally added photopolymer stamps to their line of stamps! I've come to love the clear stamps. They are so easy to use and I'm so glad SU has finally come around.  Here are 2 cards I made with their first set "Designer Typeset". The first is a one layer card and the second steps it up using the Case This Sketch challenge layout.  Both are for the Moxie Fab Speech Bubble Challenge.

The arrow placement went pretty quickly but the sentiment bubble took me several tries.  I really am scissor challenged as it took me 3 or 4 attempts to cut the bubble to my satisfaction. And after a couple tries of messing up the "hello" I finally stamped that first and then stamped the bubble around it. Duh!  Finally I popped the bubble Hello up on some dimensionals.  I'm looking forward to playing more with this set! Thanks for stopping by.

Supplies:
Stamps: Designer Typeset
Paper: Island Indigo, White, Calypso Coral Print DSP
Ink: Island Indigo, Pool Party, Calypso Coral
Accessories: Pool Party Baker's twine, dimensional,  medium scalloped border die (MFT)
