Happy 4th of July & Retro Rubber Challenge Take 2

OK, I'm trying the Retro Rubber challenge again and following the rules. I'm using an old SU set called July Fourth.

Here's what I did:

• Stamped the fireworks up the left side
• Cut the white overlay panel to show off the fireworks
• Stamped the sentiment & stars
• Added some clear glaze over the stars which you can't see in the photo but looks nice IRL
• Added silver metallic ink inside the sentiment

Here's the challenge:

Thanks for stopping by. Looking forward to a great July!

SUPPLIES:
Stamps: July Fourth (SU)
Paper: White (PTI)
Ink: Enchanted Evening, Pure Poppy (PTI), Soft Granite (Hero Arts)
Other: Silver metallic Sharpie, Glaze pen (Sakura), dimensionals

4th of July Spoiler Alert

This is directed to my daughters who look at my blog. If you don't want to see your 4th of July cards then stop right now!!!  OK.   I'm entering this card in the Retro Rubber 17 Challenge which is to use the Red, White and Blue color combo, sparkles or a Patriotic Theme.

Hopefully my daughters are being patient and waiting so I will proceed with my cards.

I started with a Real Red card base and embossed the fireworks with Versamark and white embossing powder. The fireworks are really the flower petal detail from PTIs new Bloomers set. Next I sprayed Glimmer Mist on the card to give it some sparkle and shine. The Celebrate sentiment was cut from twice and Night of Navy once and the layers glued together. This gives it some depth. Finally I added some sequins for a little extra pizzaz.  I taped the red layer directly to the card instead of popping it up because it was a bit wavy from the embossing and Glimmer Mist. I think it look ok because it still has the depth from the sentiment.

I tried to capture the shimmer on the card but had a really hard time finding a good angle. I think that it looks prettier IRL than in the photo.

My next card is similar but I used a white base and red & blue fireworks. I cut the sentiment from white and sponged on Real Red and Night of Navy. It is also three layers. I added Wink of Stella to the Celebrate to give it some extra shimmer.  The stamped layer is popped up on dimensionals.

I tried to get the shimmery detail on the sentiment.

Thanks for stopping by and I hope that you all have a fun and safe 4th of July!!

Oops! I just realized that my stamp set was not older than a year so I don't qualify for this challenge. Oh well. I enjoyed making the cards. Maybe tomorrow I can try again :-)

Hope everyone eats lots of tasty food, enjoys the day and watches fireworks tonight. Safely of course :-)

Happy 4th of July

Here are a couple cards that I made for the 4th.  Hope everyone enjoys the day!

• I used the PTI Cover Plate: Stripes to die cut the red. You can see the stripes that were die cut out in the top card and the full panel overlaid on white card stock in the bottom card.

• In the top card card I used SSS Falling Stars stencil and spackling paste from the hardware store to make the stars.  In the bottom card I stamped the stars in Versamark and embossed with white embossing powder.

• I stamped the sentiment onto the double ended flag and popped it up on dimensionals. The tag is also on dimensionals.

Top card:
Stamps: Label Love (Altenew)
Paper: White (PTI), Real Red and Midnight Muse (SU)

Another 4th of July CTD #247 Card

My second card today is also for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge. It was a bit more work than the first card.  Here's the challenge:

I used the new PTI set "Round Repeats" for the focus with a rhinestone in the center.  I added a strip of Night of Navy retired print DSP to the left and a piece of red card stock on the bottom that I ran through my Big Shot with a dots embossing folder. Then I stamped the sentiment and added the die cut the letters.  There actually was a bit more fussing, moving, snipping, twiddling going on but you don't need to know about all that :-)

I didn't get a very good picture of the rhinestone. I think I'll have to go back and try that again.

Supplies:
Stamps: Round Repeats, Stylish Sentiments: Birthday (PTI)
Paper: White, Real Red, Crumb Cake, Night of Navy Prints DSP ret. (SU)
Ink: Night of Navy, Real Red, Crumb Cake (SU)
Accessories: Typeset Alphabet dies (SU ret.), rhinestone (SU)

Happy 4th of July and CTD #247

The 4th of July is quickly approaching and I thought I better get my cards done.  I made 2 cards today and they are both for this week's Color Throwdown Challenge.

The 1st card is a series of layered stars. I contemplated several different colors for the card base but decided to go with a simple white background and to pierce around the star.

Both the largest star and smallest stars are up on dimensionals.  A rhinestone finishes off the center star.

The 2nd card is coming up. Stay tuned!

Thanks for stopping by!

Happy 4th of July

More hexagons! I love them!  This is a card for my daughter and SIL so I hope that have received it in the mail by now.  I stamped the hexagons in Real Red and Pacific Point.  The little stars on the white hexagons are from the SU Pennant Parade set.  I matted the hexagons on Pacific Point then wrapped some 5/8" red grosgrain ribbon around the panel.  I then tied some white Baker's twine around that.  I punched the stars with retired SU punches and added a silver rhinestone to the center then popped that on the panel with dimensionals. The whole hexagon panel is then popped up off the card with dimensionals.  Lastly I stamped a sentiment from On Your Birthday.  Happy 4th of July everyone!

All Supplies Stampin'Up unless noted:
Stamps: Happy Hexagons (PTI), On Your Birthday, Pennant Parade
Paper: Pacific Point, Whisper White
Ink: Real Red, Pacific Point

Another 4th of July Card

This card is for my oldest daughter.  I originally was going to make a simple one layer card but I just kept adding more and more until I ended up with this.  Things frequently don't go as planned.

I cut my white panel and tied red, white and blue Baker's twine around the bottom.  Then I stamped the two firecrackers and the sentiment. This was placed with dimensionals on Real Red. I had some scrap pieces of Pacific Point and Real Red on my table from a previous project so I started fiddling and ended up with what you see below.  The I saw some textured white card stock on my table and so that had to go on there too but it is kind of hard to see in the picture.  Lastly I placed a few silver rhinestones on the bottom for balance.  Hope you like it!

Supplies by Stampin'Up:
Stamps: July Fourth (ret)
Paper: Pacific Point, Real Red, Whisper White, White textured (ret)
Ink: Pacific Point, Real Red
Accessories: Red, white and blue Baker's twine,  dimensioanals, silver rhinestones (non-SU)
Tools: Scallop border punch

Patriotic Hexagons

A 4th of July card for my parents using my new Hexagon Cover Plate by PTI.  The bottom of the card uses a 3 color hexagon design with one of the colors simply being white.  I originally left the white hexagons plain but thought it needed more punch so I went back and stamped stars from Pennant Parade on them.  The top of the card is Pacific Point run through the Cuttlebug using a dotted EF.  Red grosgrain ribbon is tied over these two panels. I stamped the sentiment in red on white. I took a square piece of Pacific Point and added red to the top half. Then I tied white Baker's twine 3 times around which covered the red/blue seam. Next I paper pierced all around the edge, attached the sentiment using dimensionals and placed a silver rhinestone in each corner. This whole panel is also on dimensionals over the ribbon.  I have 2 more 4th of July cards coming but I can't post them until my daughters see them because they watch my blog.  Happy 4th of July everyone!

Here's a close up of the sentiment panel.

4th of July

Well I'm behind on my 4th of July cards. It has been so cold here in the NW that it hardly seems like it could nearly be the 4th....but the calendar marches on.

I got this set called July Fourth when it retired last year so this is my first chance to ink it up.  The base card is Riding Hood Red which I emobossed with the dots folder.  The blue panels are retired Night of Navy print pattern paper with a white layer underneath. The stars are stamped in Riding Hood Red and punched out with the star punch which is retiring. Today is the last day to purchase that punch from SU.  I popped up the stars on dimensionals. The sentiment, from the hostess set Afterthoughts, is also stamped in RHR.  The star bursts are stamped in Night of Navy and then I put on highlights with a Starburst Gelly Roll pen to give them a twinkle.  Well I better get this card in the mail :-)  Happy 4th everyone!
