I'm Back with Freshly Made Sketches #200 and Seize the Birthday

Hi All!  It's been such a busy summer with my daughter moving from Vancouver, WA to Columbus, OH to go back to school for her PhD in Music Education.  I'm so  proud of her! We also had a 2 week vacation with all our family which was wonderful.  We went to Glacier National Park and arrived there the day that the fire broke out.  We were not able to go everywhere we had hoped because of the fire but still had a wonderful time.

Now my fingers are getting itchy to get back to stamping and what better way than with Freshly Made Sketches 200th sketch!  I think that my card also will fit in with the Seize the Birthday challenge. Balloons fly. Right?

I've had this set for a while and just never got around to using it. That little balloon animal is just so cute!  Here's a close up of the little guy. He's popped up on dimensionals.

This card is just the way I like it. Clean & Simple. Lots of white space.

Have a great day and happy stamping!

Scribbling a Thank You

I went looking for inspiration for a thank you card that I needed to make and found this week's Freshly Made Sketches and ColourQ challenges.

For the flower I inked up the back side of the Circle Scribble stamp in Pool Party and then spritzed it with water before stamping on Neenah Solar White. Then I stamped the scribble in Chocolate Chip and cut it out freehand.  It is popped up on dimensionals. The turquoise plaid is wash tape. I stamped So Stripey in Chocolate Chip and freehand cut the flag.  I originally stamped the sentiment directly on the card in Versamark and embossed with gold embossing powder but my powder was old and chunky, glittery and I really didn't like the look. So I restamped the sentiment in gold ink and turned it into a flag.

Thanks for stopping by!  Have a great day!!

Dynamic Duos #55 and Freshly Made Sketches #88

I'm back home from visiting my daughter in Atlanta.  Since I live in Washington (the state), it takes me a few days to get my body back in sync from the time change. I haven't stamped in a few days and wanted to get back to it so I spent some time in my craft room yesterday evening.

This card is for the Freshly Made Sketches and Dynamic Duos Challenges.

I stamped the bicycle and was so proud of myself because the 2 parts lined up perfectly. Next came the basket. Not too bad.  Finally the presents. OK, here is where things broke down. I used markers so that I could get 2 colors.  Not great looking but I could live with it. Next was the bows.  Really didn't think much of the bows after I stamped them so I added some Dazzling Details to give them sparkle. Ah, looked pretty good.  I went on to stamp the sentiment, I punched the border, added the Raspberry strip at the bottom and now it's time to pop up the bicycle panel on dimensionals.

Surely by now the bows are dry. Right?  Not even close. I smooshed them big time! Now what to do?  I'm almost done and I've wrecked the bows!  So I sort of scraped around them, added a bit more Dazzling Details and let it sit overnight.  My husband says no one will know. Shh! Don't tell.

The bows do sparkle prettily and I guess they don't look so bad in real life :-)

Bright Blossoms

I got the new Bright Blossoms stamp set & Summer Smooches DSP yesterday so had to play today.  The layout for this card is from Freshly Made Sketches #32.

The base of the card is Rich Razzleberry layered with a piece of the new Summer Smooches DSP. I punched a Lacey Circle from Island Indigo and layered that with a circle of textured white. This is popped up on dimensionals.  I used markers to color in the vase with Rich Razzleberry, the leaves with Lucky Limeade and the flowers with Tangerine Tango and then popped this up on dimensionals as wll.  The button has a piece of Baker's twine knotted in it.  Lastly there are 3 small white brads. Thanks for stopping by.

The inside of the card has a 1/2" strip of the DSP.

Supplies are by Stampin'Up unless noted:

Paper: Rich Razzleberry, Island Indigo, textured white, Summer Smooches DSP

FMS19

I have 2 cards today for the Freshly Made Sketches challenge FMS19.

The first card is pretty simple because I'm making it for a gentleman at my church. So no fancy ribbons, etc. I stamped the image in Old Olive and layered it on Old Olive. The sentiment is also stamped in Old Olive and punched out with the Modern Label punch. I used an Old Olive marker to go around the edges and then sponged the edges with Crumb Cake. This is popped up on dimensionals.  I punched 7 circles out of Crushed Curry (ret) using a 3/4" circle punch and then taped them down in a line on the Kraft card stock. Then I covered the bottom edges with the Crushed Curry dotted ribbon to get the scallop effect. I placed the image on dimensionals over the top of this and added 3 Old Olive brads. Pretty easy!

Stamps: Thoughts & Prayers, Teeny Tiny Wishes
Paper: Old Olive, Crushed Curry, Kraft, White
Ink: Old Olive, Crumb Cake
Accessories: 3/4" circle punch, Crushed Curry ribbon (ret), Modern Label punch, Old Olive brads, dimensionals

The second card has a bit more detail in it.  I used a Certainly Celery base for this card because I had a scrap of retired DSP on my table and it matched better than the Old Olive. Not sure what that DSP is because it's been DSP on top of that. Then I wrapped some twill I also had lying on my table around that. The final little touch is some Baker's twine around the knot.   The image is stamped in Celery on white and layered on a piece of Daffodil Delight Print DSP.  The sentiment is in Celery and punched out with the Word Window punch and then layered on another piece of that DSP punched with the Modern Label punch which is popped up on a dimensional.  This is all on a piece of white which is embossed with the dots EF.  Finally I added 3 rhinestones which I colored with a yellow Sharpie. Don't know if you can see that very well in the pic.  Thanks for stopping by!

Paper: Certainly Celery, Daffodil Delight, White, Daffodil Delight Print DSP, SU retired DSP,

Playing With New Stuff & FMS18

Christmas is over, the holiday decorations are put away and I finally have some time to play with fun, new stamping stuff. This first card is for this week's Freshly Made Sketches 18.

The base of the card is Soft Suede followed by a layer of the new Everyday Enchantment DSP. This will be available later this month as an SAB selection. It's wonderful!   I used Lucky Limeade and Poppy Parade markers to ink up the flower and then punched it out using the Lacey Ovals Nestability.  This is layered on Poppy Parade.  The bottom Vanilla piece was edged with the new Adorning Accents Edgelit from the new Occasions Mini. A strip of Soft Suede was place behind and a piece of Lucky Limeade organdy was added on top. This will also be available in the SAB catalog. The final touch was the Brights button with a piece of linen thread.
After I glued everything down I realized that I should have embossed above the scalloped edge with the new Adorning Accents embossing folder. I guess that will be for next time.

Supplies Used:
Stamp set: Love & Sympathy
Paper: Soft Suede, Poppy Parade, Very Vanilla, Everyday Enchantment DSP
Ink: Poppy Parade & Lucky Limeade markers
Accessories: Brights button, linen thread, Lucky Limeade Everyday Enchantment organdy ribbon
Tools: Adorning Accents Edgelits, Lacey Ovals Nestability, glue dots

This second card is inspired by this card by Sarah Wills. Again the base is Soft Suede. The next layer is Vanilla embossed with the Framed Tulips EF.  I stamped the new Occasions Mini Apothecary Art stamp set in Soft Suede and used Pool Party & Peach Parfait markers to color in the flowers. I'm not a big Peach Parfait fan but I think it works pretty well for the flower centers. Then I die cut the image and another piece of Soft Suede using the new Labels Collection Framelits.  The SS piece is embossed but sorry I don't remember which EF I grabbed.  I used Teeny Tiny Wishes for the sentiment and cut it out with the Modern Label punch. It is popped up on dimensionals.  I was really excited about the rhinestones. I asked for and received a 24-pack of Sharpie markers for Christmas. With these I colored the clear rhinestone a color that I think matches Pool Party pretty well.  I was having so much fun I got a little bloop of color on the vanilla paper. Oops!  I'll be having some fun with this technique in the future :-)  Hope you like these cards. It was fun playing. Thanks for stopping by.
