Happy New Year

This card is for the Retro Sketches challenge (RS44).

I wanted a dramatic look so went with black and white.  I used the SU stamp New Year's stamped in black and then embossed with clear embossing powder to make it pop.  Below that is some retired DSP by SU called Night and Day. To the left is a little piece of silver wrapping paper left over from who knows what :-).  The sentiment and DSP are popped up on dimensionals. I added a black button with black & white Baker's twine.  Thanks for stopping by and Happy New Year!

Supplies:
Stamps: New Year's
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Black, silver wrapping paper, Night and Day DSP (ret)
Ink: Black
Accessories: Clear embossing powder, earth elements black button, corner rounder, Baker's twine, dimensionals, glue dot, Fishtail Flag Stax (MFT)

Comfort Food

Here are a couple more cards that I made while my daughter was in town for Christmas.  Both of these cards use Comfort Foods by PTI.  The spoons were stamped first in black to get the outlines. Then they were were stamped with the back of the stamp to fill in the color.  I got the idea from this card by Cristina at My Paper Secret. This was not so easy to do since the stamp didn't stick to the acrylic block when using it backwards and I had to just use my fingers. On my first try I thought it came out too dark so I stamped off once before stamping on the card.

The 2nd card is a total case of the card mentioned above. I used a craft knife to make a slit in the bowl for the spoon.

Supplies listed for both cards:
Stamps: Comfort Food (PTI)
Paper: Whisper White, Basic Gray, Calypso Coral, Pool Party DSP
Ink: Pool Party, Wisteria Wonder, Daffodil Delight, Calypso Coral, Black
Accessories: Comfort Food die (PTI) , the heart is from the Owl punch (SU), dimensionals, Baker's twine, SU border punch

I'm Back - I Hope

It's been a while since my last post. December was a busy month with a baby shower for my daughter and then Christmas. Now I'm trying to catch up.  Here is a card that I made when my daughter and I had some stamping time together.

I started with the new Papertrey Cover Plate: Circles in white. I stamped the individual circles with SU Make a Mitten. The reindeer are Midnight Muse, The poinsettia shapes are Pacific Point and the snowflakes are Cool Caribbean.  I thought it was too white so I changed the diamonds to Tempting Turquoise.  The circles on the left and right are stamped with Country Charm by WPlus9. The sentiment is Think Big Favorites #22 by Papertrey Ink.  I added some Baker's Twine & grosgrain ribbon to finish it off.  I'll try to have more cards tomorrow :-)

Supplies:
Stamps: Make a Mitten (SU), Country Charm (WPlus9), Think Big Favorites #22 (PTI)
Paper: Whisper White, Tempting Turquoise (SU)
Ink: Midnight Muse, Pacific Point, & Cool Caribbean (SU)
Accessories: Tempting Turquoise 1/4" grosgrain ribbon, Baker's twine
Tools: Cover Plate: Circles (PTI)

Happy Birthday Dad

This card is for my dad's birthday. I just got this paper by My Mind's Eye and when I saw the sheet that had "Celebrate" in the corner I knew I wanted to make that my focus.  I layered it on some of my hoarded Sage Shadow paper. I then die cut a tag, stamped "Dad" and tied it on with some linen thread and Baker's twine. This is popped up on a piece of Kraft paper. Simple as that and very masculine. Thanks for looking!

Supplies:
Stamps: Tiny Tags (PTI)
Paper: Kraft, Sage Shadow, My Mind's Eye Lost & Found Portobello Road
Ink: Early Espresso
Accessories: Linen thread, Baker's twine, TIny Tags die (PTI), dimensionals

31st Birthday

This week is my daughter's 31st birthday. This is the card that I made for her.  It's also for this week's iSpy sketch challenge and was supposed to be for the Cloud9 November blog hop.  I got so wrapped up in choosing the DSP that I didn't actually use any Wplus9 products. Oh well.

I used the PTI Paper Beads die to make all the sunbursts then just started piecing them on.  The circle image is popped up on dimensionals. Pretty straightforward - just a bit time consuming. Thanks for stopping by and Happy Birthday Vickie!

Cloud9 Blog Hop & DD28

Here is my card for the Cloud9 Blog Hop. I started out with more colors but it didn't work and I ended up with just the two.  I'm not even going to tell you how many times I stamped the different rows of Fair Isle Backgrounds until I got them lined up evenly. After I finally got that done I stamped the gingerbread man and layered him up with the Clear Cut Stackers: Pinking Squares and then popped him up with dimensionals on some fishtail flags.

Edit: Even though I made this card yesterday it works pretty well for today's Dynamic Duos so I'm adding it to that as well :-)

I added a little button on the gingerbread man to make him stand out more.   Thanks for stopping by!

Last Halloween Card

I guess I was on a roll today. Here's my last Halloween card. I stamped the clothesline from Heartfelt Mix in Basic Gray on Vanilla. Then I hung the four images from Spooky Bingo Bits. I added some Howlstooth & Scaringbone DSP to the left side, a little strip of pinked edge in Tangerine Tango and a piece of black ribbon.  The sentiment from Primitive Pumpkins was cut with a fishtail tag die and matted on a piece of black. A black brad and a piece of Baker's twine completed this and it was popped up on dimensionals.  This card is also good for the colourQ challenge this week.  Thanks for checking out my Halloween cards!

2nd Halloween Card Today

Amazing!  I got a 2nd card made and I didn't even case anyone. It is for 2 more challenges.  Retrosketches RS#34 and the colourQ challenge cQc#160.  OK, here's the card.

This time I used the smaller pocket stamp from Wplus9 A Pocketful.  I must have given my Kiwi Kiss to one of my daughter's so I used Lucky Limeade instead. The cute little spiders jumping out of the pocket are from the Pocketful: Halloween set.  I used my Sakura Stardust gelly roll pen on the spiders to give them some added pizzazz.  From there this card turned into one of those where you tinker and tinker until you finally like it.  I just kept adding little strips of paper and I think that I like the result. The black strip on the right is from the SU's Neutrals DSP pack, then comes a strip of Tangerine Tango. On the left I die cut the scallops from Rich Razzleberry DSP, then there's a strip of black and finally a strip of Lucky Limeade. I tied some Baker's twine around and added a tag which is a PTI die cut from the Tiny Tags set and the Boo sentiment is from the SU Tiny Tags set.

Closeup - Can you see the spidery shimmer?

Now check out the inside.

The sentiment and little spider webs are from the MFT set Primitive Pumpkins.

1st Halloween Card

Well I'm finally getting to my Halloween cards. This is the first and I hope that I have more to come.  I get to play with new stuff and also meet a couple of challenges -  Dynamic Duos DD#25  color challenge including the dessert option of using a die and also the Pals Paper Arts PP145 sketch challenge.

I die cut the pocket and stamped it in Pumpkin Pie. Then I stamped the bats and embossed them with clear embossing powder. You can't really see it in the picture but it does help pop them out on the card. Then I adhered the pocket with dimensionals. The sentiment from A Pocketful: Halloween was punched out, spritzed with pumpkin pie ink and then also popped with dimensionals.   I used my new Die-Namics Fishtail Flag Stax to cut the flag out of the Black DSP and then backed that with the PP DSP.  It's all on a black card base.  Check back as I hope to have some more Halloween cards soon :-)

It's A Boy

My daughter is expecting her first child and our first grandchild.  She found out yesterday that it's a boy. As we have 2 girls my husband is really excited at the prospect of a male grandchild coming in February!  Here is the card I sent to her.

I started with this week's iSpy sketch (ISSC33).  I also wanted to use boy colors so the CR84FN63 challenge fit perfectly.  I stamped the main image on white and used markers in Chocolate Chip, Crumb Cake and Bashful Blue to color it in.  I die cut it out with Nestability ovals. I also spritzed some Bashful Blue onto the oval thinking it might make it look a bit like an egg :-)    I found some retired SU paper called Spring Showers that had both the BB & CC so I cut out 3 strips (3/4" x 3-3/4") and then popped up on the chicken image on dimensionals. The longer blue strip is from the same DSP.  I used just a part of the stamp "So Many Sayings" for the sentiment and punched it out with the Modern Label punch then added a couple brads. This is all mounted on a piece of white that I ran through my Cuttlebug with the PTI chicken wire impression plate. That's it.  I hope my daughter and SIL like the card!

A closer look at the chicken wire impression.

Here is the inside of the card.

Congrats on Your New Roost

Both of my daughters have recently moved into new homes so I wanted to send them cards.  I knew that I wanted to use Papertrey's On the Farm set and this week's Color Throwdown (CTD209) worked with it just perfectly.

My first card is for my married daughter and her husband.  I stamped a background image from "On the Farm" in Summer Sun and then back it with Chocolate Chip and Old Olive. The rooster and hen are die cut with Really Rust and popped up on dimensionals.  The sentiment is stamped in Old Olive and then I hand cut each end to from the fishtail ends.

I was going to use the checked image from On the Farm but it was a tad too large so I grabbed the checks from a WPlus9 set called Country Charm which are just a bit smaller & stamped in Cherry Cobbler. The double lines (also from the Country Charm set) are in Chocolate Chip. I ran this Very Vanilla panel through my Cuttlebug using the PTI Linen Impression Plate. Then I used some Tim Holtz Antique Linen Distress ink around the edge. I also used that same ink around the edge of the sentiment.  The image panel is popped up on dimensionals and some hemp is tied around the card.

My next card is for my daughter who is not married.  It is very similar to the first card except I used different background images. The barn is stamped in Really Rust, the sentiment is Chocolate Chip and the rooster is die cut from Chocolate Chip although it looks pretty black in the picture.

The rest is pretty much the same except that I embossed the image and the Really Rust panel with the Linen Impression plate. I don't know if you can see that in the pic.

Thanks for checking out my blog!

Paper: Chocolate Chip, Old Olive, Really Rust, Very Vanilla
Ink: Summer Sun, Old Olive, Really Rust, Cherry Cobbler, Tim Holtz Distress Ink Antique Linen

Spooky Bingo Bits

This card accomplishes 3 challenges. Can you believe it!!  Yay!  The Dynamic Duos (DD#20), Retro Sketches (RS#29) and Casual Friday (CFC70).

The card base is embossed with the SU spider web folder.  I stamped 3 different images from Spooky Bingo Bits onto white and matted them with Lucky Limeade & then black. They are popped up on dimensionals on the Lucky Limeade DSP which has a piece of Lucky Limeade behind it. I stamped the "Boo" sentiment from SU's Tiny Tags set onto a die cut tag from PTI also called Tiny Tags. This is tied on with black/white Baker's twine.  Pretty simple!

Happy Anniversary Mom & Dad

Lots of anniversaries this month. My parents, my bro & SIL and also mine & my hubbies at the end of the month.  This card is for my parents.  It also was able to get in two challenges.  The iSpy sketch challenge (ISSC31) and also the Color Throwdown (CTD208).

I wanted to play with my new PTI stamp set Heart-2-Heart #7.  I first punched the larger flower out of Melon Mambo pattern pack and then found a Soft Subtle button to go on top with a little bit of white Baker's twine accent.  I played around with the layout until I found one I liked and then stamped the smaller flower. The stem & leaf are Garden Green, the flower is Pink Pirouette and the center brad is Always Artichoke.  Then I stamped the stem & leaves of the larger flower and popped up the flower on a dimensional.  The sentiment is and SU set called Family Reunion.  This is also popped up on dimensionals.  The white panel I think was 4x4" (it's gone in the mail so I can't measure it) and two of the corners have been rounded.  The green ribbon I think is SU Wasabi, now retired,  but it's downstairs and I'm too lazy to go look right now.  Oops. Did I really say that.  The little heart is PTI Tiny Tags stamped in Melon Mambo and tied with Baker's Twine.  I think that's it. Thanks for checking out my card.

Supplies:

Happy Birthday Hubby

Well it's been almost 2 months since my last post. Lots of life happening but I hope that things might settle down now.  It felt really good to be back in my stamping room!  So here's the card that I made for my husband's birthday. I really need to focus on photography and learn how to use the manual settings on my camera.

I knew that I wanted to use my new set by WPlus9 "A Pocketful" so I started with that stamped in Midnight Muse on Very Vanilla card stock.  I wanted some presents peaking out of the pocket and didn't think that any of my stamp sets worked so I used my SU large tag punch to punch them out. You can't see the tag part as that is tucked below in the pocket. The front 2 presents were embossed with a dots folder and the back present was embossed with my SU Stripes embossing folder.  For the bows I used my SU Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch and cut them in half.  The pocket/presents are layered with dimensionals on Pool Party DSP which is backed with Gumball Green and a bit of Baker's Twine is also tied on. The sentiment is from "A Pocketful".  The card is backed on Midnight Muse.  I have a bunch of other new stamping stuff and can't wait to play some more :-)

Supplies: (Stampin'Up unless noted)
Stamps: A Pocketful (WPlus9)
Paper: Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals, Pool Party, Gumball Green, Very Vanilla, Pool Party Print DSP
Ink: Midnight Muse, Primrose Petals, Gumball Green
Accessories: Baker's Twine, dimensionals
Tools: Pocket die cut (WPlus9), Large Scallop Edgelit, dot embossing folder, stripes embossing folder, Blossom Bouquet Triple Layer punch, Large Tag punch

Happy 4th of July

More hexagons! I love them!  This is a card for my daughter and SIL so I hope that have received it in the mail by now.  I stamped the hexagons in Real Red and Pacific Point.  The little stars on the white hexagons are from the SU Pennant Parade set.  I matted the hexagons on Pacific Point then wrapped some 5/8" red grosgrain ribbon around the panel.  I then tied some white Baker's twine around that.  I punched the stars with retired SU punches and added a silver rhinestone to the center then popped that on the panel with dimensionals. The whole hexagon panel is then popped up off the card with dimensionals.  Lastly I stamped a sentiment from On Your Birthday.  Happy 4th of July everyone!

Another 4th of July Card

This card is for my oldest daughter.  I originally was going to make a simple one layer card but I just kept adding more and more until I ended up with this.  Things frequently don't go as planned.

I cut my white panel and tied red, white and blue Baker's twine around the bottom.  Then I stamped the two firecrackers and the sentiment. This was placed with dimensionals on Real Red. I had some scrap pieces of Pacific Point and Real Red on my table from a previous project so I started fiddling and ended up with what you see below.  The I saw some textured white card stock on my table and so that had to go on there too but it is kind of hard to see in the picture.  Lastly I placed a few silver rhinestones on the bottom for balance.  Hope you like it!

Supplies by Stampin'Up:
Stamps: July Fourth (ret)
Paper: Pacific Point, Real Red, Whisper White, White textured (ret)
Ink: Pacific Point, Real Red
Accessories: Red, white and blue Baker's twine,  dimensioanals, silver rhinestones (non-SU)
Tools: Scallop border punch

Patriotic Hexagons

A 4th of July card for my parents using my new Hexagon Cover Plate by PTI.  The bottom of the card uses a 3 color hexagon design with one of the colors simply being white.  I originally left the white hexagons plain but thought it needed more punch so I went back and stamped stars from Pennant Parade on them.  The top of the card is Pacific Point run through the Cuttlebug using a dotted EF.  Red grosgrain ribbon is tied over these two panels. I stamped the sentiment in red on white. I took a square piece of Pacific Point and added red to the top half. Then I tied white Baker's twine 3 times around which covered the red/blue seam. Next I paper pierced all around the edge, attached the sentiment using dimensionals and placed a silver rhinestone in each corner. This whole panel is also on dimensionals over the ribbon.  I have 2 more 4th of July cards coming but I can't post them until my daughters see them because they watch my blog.  Happy 4th of July everyone!

Here's a close up of the sentiment panel.

Paper: Pacific Point, Real Red, Whisper White

Farm Thanks

I needed a thank you card and since I have to send it off in the mail I have 2 posts today.    This card didn't turn out the way I started it and I'm not entirely happy with it. I have the chicken wire impression plate and I wanted to use it but I couldn't find my rubber mats so I feel the background is a bit blah.  Oh well.

It's pretty straight forward.  The rooster is popped up on a dimensional and the Many Thanks panel is also on dimensionals.

Here is the inside of the card.  I used parts of sentiments from two different stamp sets - SU's You're My Type set and PTI's On the Farm set.

Thanks for looking!

Paper:  Real Red, Whisper White
