PTI October Create Along With Us

PTI has released so much cute stuff the last couple of months. This time of year is always so busy but I had time today to sit down and play. I've also recently started acquiring and playing with Distress Oxide inks.  So I thought I would play along with the PTI's challenge today.

Here is the card that I copied.

Fawn&flora1-2-hnichols

And here is my card.

It is pretty straight forward except for the oval frame. That is where I used the distress oxides. It is pretty pale and I really wish that I had some micro glaze to go over it so that the colors would pop. Well that is now in an Amazon order.  I also cut an additional oval in Kraft to go underneath and support the top oval because the paper was warped.

Edited: I just today got some Ranger Micro Glaze and so I dabbed some on my finger and rubbed it on the pierced oval. I think that the colors of the distressed oxides are brighter now.

Supplies:
Stamps: Winter Fox, Text & Texture: Wood Slices
Paper: White, Kraft, Honey Nut
Ink: Dark Chocolate, Cocoa Bean, Honey Nut, Fresh Snow (fox's face)
Dies: Winter Fox; Pierced Feature Frames: Oval; (PTI) Stitched Rectangles (mft)
Other: Distress Oxides (Spiced Marmalade, Old Paper, Squeezed Lemonade); foam tape under fox

PTI Create Along With Us

I have been inspired by all the PTI design team projects for this month's release. I needed to make a thank you card for a friend of mine and really liked this card by Heather and so am playing along with Create With Us this month.  Here is my card.

In place of the gourds I used leaves from the Leaf Prints set.  I have been playing around with alcohol inks and had a few of my trial pieces on my table so I cut them out and then embossed the leaf veins with gold embossing powder.  The orange leaf also has a bit of gold foil on it.

I die cut "friend" three times and adhered with glue and then used Nuvo gloss drops to dot the i.

Here's a close up.

That's it. Thanks for stopping by.

SUPPLIES:
Stamps: Twig Wreath, Leaf Prints
Paper: Stamper's Select White, Kraft, Yupo
Ink: Cocoa Bean, Honey Nut, Versamark
Die: Leaf Prints; Wet Paint III
Other: Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink (red leaf: Flamingo, Watermelon, Cranberry), I didn't write down the green & orange leaf colors; gold foil; Nuvo Gloss Drops (Caramel Cream, Dark Walnut); gold embossing powder; twine

Thinking of You

Jennifer McGuire recently posted a video on creative uses of embossing folders.  My daughter and I played with this technique and this is my card.

I added Perfect Pearls to the raised areas but you can't see it in the photo and even in real life it doesn't show up much.  I used Nuvo drops to dot the i's. Much easier than trying to glue the tiny little die cut and I love how close a color match it is :-)

Thanks for looking!

SUPPLIES:
Stamps: NONE
Paper: White, Vintage Jadeite, Hawaiian Shores
Ink: Mint Julep, Versamark
Dies: Stitched Rectangles (SSS); Scallop Stackers: Large (pti); Big Basics: Thinking of You Die (pti)
Other: Perfect Pearls, Nuvo gloss drops ‘Caribbean Ocean’; Finial Press Embossing folder (SU ret)

Skinny Note Pads

I thought I would post these note pads that I made last May as gifts since Papertrey's Make It Live video this week used the same note pads but a different cover.

I used my Cinch and 3/8" coils to bind the top. I used some light weight cardboard that I had saved from who knows what for the covers. I then ran assorted dsp from Stampin'Up and Papertrey through my Xyron to apply adhesive to the back & applied the dsp to the covers. There are 2 note pads in each one applied with sticky tape adhesive. I tied on a pen using Baker's twine to complete the gift.

Specifics:
White cardboard backing: 2-1/2 x 8-1/2"
DSP: 2-1/2 x 8"

Thanks for looking!

Fun with the Colorblock Stencil

It's been a busy summer and I am now getting some time to play with some of my new stuff.

I needed a birthday card and so I adapted this card to a slightly different layout.  The corners use the new PTI Color Block Stencils with Distress Oxide ink. This ink is new to me and I got it because it looked like it really blended smoothly in the videos that I watched and I have to say that I really like how it looks. I added some Nuvo gloss drops, also new for me, and they are really fun to play with.  I hope you like my adaptation of Betsy's card :-)

SUPPLIES:
Stamps: Vogue Vases, Simple Stems, In the Shadows

Alcohol Ink & Dad

I've just recently dived into using alcohol inks and I have been making Father's Day cards. This challenge at Just Us Girls is perfectly timed.

I used the Ranger mini ink blending tool & felt pads in a pouncing motion to do the background. I didn't use and blending solution on this card and thought it came out quite pretty. The lighter areas of the card have silver mixative so they shine but that is hard to see in the photo.

SUPPLIES:
Paper: White, silver (pti), Brilliant Blue (SU), Yupo paper
Ink: Black (Versafine Onyx), Tim Holtz Alcohol Ink (Indigo, Sail Boat Blue, Silver mixative)
Die: Epic Dad (WP9), Fishtail Flag Stax (MFT)
Other: Silver cord (SU), Baker's twine, Tiny Attacher, mini blending tool & felt pads
